Ebony is no longer a family-owned operation that is viewed as a timely and necessary source of culturally vital information to an underserved audience of dedicated readers. Private equity firms are solely interested in generating equity capital income--not maintaining historic journalistic legacies. They'll either sell it or close the doors soon. Nothing personal, just good business. Sad to see it go.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11279250.post-27990616160016510082016-06-20T15:59:58.418-05:002016-06-20T15:59:58.418-05:00I have mixed feelings about this one. They might actually be able to jump into the modern era if someone new comes in and helps them get the social media and online presence thing down.

On the negative side, OMG DON'T FOLD! Can you imagine all that precious, priceless history down the tubes?

Any kind of last-minute save in an era when ALL print media is circling the drain is a good thing, I guess. I'd rather see a world with digital-only editions of these publications than a world with no AA focused media at all.

Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
