10434: Cornering The Truth With Walgreens.

The new Walgreens commercial plays fast and loose with historical facts and diversity. Sure, the drugstore invented malted milkshakes, serving them at soda fountains that probably prohibited Blacks from purchasing. Yet the copy also implies Walgreens invented child-proof safety caps. The company website, however, admits Walgreens was only the first major drugstore chain to use the caps. The container tops were created, incidentally, by Canadian doctor and medical researcher Henri Breault. Showing the Black pharmacist and cashier are nice touches, albeit a tad unbelievable. About five years ago, Walgreens coughed up $24 million to settle a discrimination lawsuit that charged the company with forcing Black employees to work at low-performing stores in poorer areas. 3. Walgreens is only one of many major US corporations that push their advertising to skirt the limits of truth. I think it has less to do with race and more to do with naked greed!

You are absolutely correct...we are not equal. White people are constantly discriminated against, but can never claim it or they are accused of being racist against black people. It is such a joke. If people would just accept equality, it might actually happen some day. Until then we are doomed to racism.

I priced a presciption at Walgreens- 2 items- $74.00. I went to Costco and the SAME EXACT meds cost me $14.00. I'm not endorsing Costco but showing that Walgreens happily over profit at a persons time of illness. After that nothing would surprise me. By the way, I think Ralph Nader forced the law passed for safety caps. Then someone else invented it.
