13044: BHM 2016—Google.

Google celebrates Black History Month by saluting Frederick Douglass. According to Wikipedia, “[Douglass] stood as a living counter-example to slaveholders’ arguments that slaves lacked the intellectual capacity to function as independent American citizens.” Today, Google seems to believe Blacks lack the intellectual capacity to function as employees at the company.

I'm gonna give them credit for trying. They used Richie Pope, a black graphic artist, to create the logo.

The ad industry RARELY lets anybody of color bring their own community's stories to the page or screen like that. Ever.

It's always European art director this or white South African that collecting a fat paycheck for putting mixed chicks and Vaguely Asian/Vaguely Hispanic "racially ambiguous" types out in the public eye.

So Google gets a tiny clap for this one. TINY.
