Adweek reported that WPP hired a new Chief Talent and Inclusion Officer. Of course they did. According to Adweek, the executive is charged with retaining staffers—especially diverse talent—by reassuring everyone “that promotions are on the horizon.” Gee, that’s a cheery counter to the 2019 plan for dumping 2,500 employees over three years. And regarding minorities, the White holding company has already admitted to failing at recruiting people of color—disproving previous perfidious puffery about its diversity. Although the appointment of this CTIO checks off at least two boxes.
