16499: Million-Dollar AI Contest Is A Cheap PR Stunt.

MediaPost reported White healthcare agency Klick Health announced a PR stunt whereby $1 million has been earmarked for awarding to staffers who hatch the best AI ideas for life sciences in 2024.

 

Now, there are a bunch of issues with this scenario:

 

First, a “C-suite client judging panel” will select the winners. Wow, that’s serious client-appeasing, ass-kissing bullshit. If the C-suite executives were bright enough to judge breakthrough ideas, wouldn’t they be producing innovations? Hell, most clients aren’t even qualified to assess campaign concepts.

 

Second, will contestants and winners retain the rights to their concepts? Or will Klick steal and execute the designs for their own profit?

 

Third, $1 million is not a significant pot of gold, given that the rules and regulations don’t specify how much each victor might collect. If that amount were distributed to the entire Klick staff in the form of bonuses, the net take-home checks would be less than $700 per person.

 

Fourth, it would be interesting to learn how the prize money compares to Klick Health’s diversity budget.

 

Finally, has anyone considered that a legitimately successful AI tool could reduce the need for employees? In short, the victorious employees might make themselves—and coworkers—redundant and unnecessary. The $1 million may actually be applied towards severance payments.

 

The entire scheme underscores the lack of authentic creativity in pharmaceutical marketing.

 

Klick Health To Award Employees $1M For Best AI Ideas In 2024

Health Care agency Klick Health is setting aside $1 million to be awarded to agency team members that come up with the best AI ideas for life sciences in 2024.

 

The prize money was announced at a recent company-wide town hall meeting.

 

Winning entrants will be decided by a C-Suite client judging panel.

 

And to get Klicksters’ innovative juices flowing, the agency had former Barenaked Ladies frontman Steven Page sing “If I Had a Million Dollars” at its holiday party last Thursday night.

 

The agency is part of the The Klick Group of companies, which also includes Klick Media Group, Klick Applied Sciences (including Klick Labs), Klick Consulting, Klick Ventures, and Sensei Labs.

 

The Group was started in 1997 and has offices in New York, Philadelphia, and Toronto, as well as outposts in Europe, Asia and Latin America.
