A special advertising section in the latest issue of Adweek spotlights the
Advertising Educational Foundation. The insert presents an AEF initiative to create “the definitive online exhibition to depict how race and ethnicity have shaped the development of advertising over the course of the 20th century.”
AEF CEO Paula Alex remarked, “Arguably, advertising reinforced many social prejudices. Yet at later times, advertising has also helped depict a more inclusive nation.”
Yo, girlfriend, it’s
still reinforcing social prejudices. And it never managed to inspire a more inclusive industry. Somebody needs to educate the Advertising Educational Foundation.
