Singer sues airline, claiming racial slurs, stabbing
MIAMI — A Brazilian singer’s lawsuit claims flight attendants called him racial slurs and that his producer was stabbed with a sharp pen.
Dudu Nobre, his wife and the producer filed the suit against American Airlines last week, seeking $4 million in damages.
Nobre, who is black, claims one flight attendant called him a “monkey” in Portuguese and made “monkeylike” sounds and gestures during the flight last year from New York to São Paulo, Brazil.
American Airlines officials declined comment Monday.
