At
The Big Tent, Bill Imada criticized the culturally clueless commercials created for MetroPCS. Surprisingly, most of the
racists readers commenting essentially called Imada an oversensitive race-baiter. The morons are clearly employees of MetroPCS and/or its White advertising agency—and their responses are as stereotypical as the characters they’re defending.
FYI: The art director that created Chad and Ranjit is from India. Check your facts ;)
ReplyDeleteWell, there are plenty of ads incorporating stereotypical imagery being created by people of all cultures—as well as multicultural agencies. The creators’ race or ethnicity does not validate the end product. Was the MetroPCS campaign created by an Indian agency or a White (i.e., mass market) agency? If it’s the former, that’s one thing. If it’s the latter, there are no facts that require checking. Thanks for the comment.
ReplyDeleteSeems like the "editors" from Richards Group (Metro PCS agency) are keeping themselves busy. Pitiful.
