15344: Delayed WTF 50—COVID-19 Vaccination Administration Hesitation.

MultiCultClassics is often occupied with real work. As a result, a handful of events occur without the expected blog commentary. This limited series—Delayed WTF—seeks to make belated amends for the absence of malice.

Now that COVID-19 vaccines have been approved by the FDA, everyone seems obsessed over the distribution and administration process. The shipments are being tracked like Santa Claus’ delivery route on Christmas Eve.

According to news and governmental sources, there’s a specific order to the administration, allegedly based on urgency of need. Children under 12 years of age—being least affected by the coronavirus—have been placed at the bottom of the list. On the opposite end of the spectrum, frontline workers and the elderly have been identified as high-risk; hence, they will be first to receive vaccinations.

But who’s next?

If the decisions are data-driven, underserved and underrepresented communities—namely, Blacks, Latinx and Indigenous people—would be the most logical candidates for the medication.

And White advertising agencies should be among the last.

Let’s see if vaccination vacillation emerges in the months ahead.
