Multicultural Health National is scheduled to take place November 15-16, 2012, in Orlando, Florida, bringing together health marketers targeting multicultural audiences. Program creators hope to enlighten and educate attendees on multicultural marketing best practices. It’s all good until realizing the exciting lineup of keynote speakers includes Tanner Colby. Did anyone involved with the event catch Colby’s performance at “Where Are All The Black People?”—or actually read his book? The man is neither an expert nor supporter of multicultural marketing. Yet Colby will receive 45 minutes to hype his work, while the majority of minority professionals only get half an hour. White privilege at a multicultural marketing convention…?

I have been following your musings about Mr. Colby for some time and what I find most amusing is that people believe that he actually had no black friends. He is a faker from top to bottom. He had black friends. I should know, I was one of his black friends. He doesn't acknowledge me and MY friends because I am a gay black man and he has deleted all memory of that side of his life. When I knew him..and I mean knew him...he had an older white boyfriend. I see now that he is married. Maybe he should write a new book, Some of My Best Friends WERE Gay AND Black. He just tells what sells.
