Adweek published a perspective from Carta Head of Inclusion, Equity and Impact Mita Mallick titled, “BHM Is Not a ‘Check the Box’ Exercise.” In Adland, BHM doesn’t even rate ‘Check the Box’ status. Rather, it’s a task annually delegated to Chief Diversity Officers—including Heads of Inclusion, Equity and Impact, as well as other Human Heat Shields—and typically forgotten by March 1st or much sooner.
