Advertising Age reported that at least five White advertising agencies are pitching for the Bud Light U.S. creative account, including Anomaly, Johannes Leonardo, Gut, WPP’s Cavalry and The Martin Agency. Okay, technically, Gut is not a White advertising agency—although it would be interesting to learn if Papel & Caneta had an opinion on the matter. Regardless, should the competing shops be tasked with addressing internal DEI as part of the review process, it will be the most creative promotional propaganda presented for sure.
And given Budweiser’s alleged commitment to fairness and equality, will Black advertising agencies play a role in the pitch—or must they settle for a pitcher of Bud Light and crumbs?
