16023: Code And Theory Is Dumb And Clueless. Word.

The inaugural Creativity Top 5 Diversity, Equity & Inclusion featured one particularly pathetic heat shieldWords Up: A Guide to Inclusive Language at Code and Theory.

The 73-page guide covers eight “Categories of Inclusivity”—offering suggestions for visuals and copy that should be adopted and avoided. Of course, the samples of stuff to avoid are work from other White advertising agencies undoubtedly outside of Stagwell Inc., the White holding company that owns Code and Theory.

(Gotta believe that the brands responsible for the culturally clueless examples will not appreciate being spotlighted. Plus, Code and Theory is probably violating copyright laws by displaying the crap, as the firm likely failed to secure permission to do so.)

In addition to looking as if it was designed by a junior account person with limited PowerPoint skills, Words Up provides nothing of value. The guide reads like a 1990s diversity training manual. Hell, even card-carrying KKK members know to avoid openly using blatantly offensive images and racist/sexist/ageist/fill-in-the-blankist phrases.

If Code and Theory believes that they created an original and progressive idea, well, it indicates they’re uninventive, regressive buffoons. No offense.
