Essay 461

Black. White. Vanilla.

The premiere episode of the new FX series “Black. White.” didn’t live up to the hype. Or the Ice Cube track and video.

At the beginning of the show — in typical White folks fashion — Bruno’s family drove up and parked in a handicapped space.

The White-chick-acting-Black got to hang with spoken word artists. And her poetry was criticized for having too many big words.

The Black-dude-acting-White wanted to do something all White kids do. So he went to etiquette class. Yeah, that’s a genuine part of the White experience.

Maybe the series will get better over time. But right now, it’s barely passing for entertainment.
