African American Designers in Chicago: Art, Commerce, and the Politics of Race is on view at the Chicago Cultural Center through March 3, 2019.
The exhibition includes a diverse collection of work by the late Emmett McBain, co-founder of Burrell McBain, Inc., which later became Burrell Communications Group. The 2017 AIGA Medalist also produced campaigns for Vince Cullers Advertising. In addition to McBain’s advertising, the exhibition features album covers, posters, flyers, illustrations and more.
