In the latest episode of AMC series Mad Men Season 6, account executive Bob Benson was speaking in Spanish. Is the character actually Latino? Sure, he had previously hooked up Pete Campbell’s mother with a Latino caretaker, but it was never indicated that Benson was Latino too. Perhaps he was just speaking in Spanish. However, he showed extraordinary fluency with the language—especially the profanity. It was later exposed that Benson’s resume was full of lies and he once acted as the manservant of a corporate bigwig. The revelation led to a completely incomprehensible showdown between Benson and Campbell.
The episode also included an appearance by series creator Matthew Weiner’s son. The kid has absolutely zero acting skills. But like the real advertising business, nepotism trumps talent.
