Honoring the United States Colored Troops: Veterans Day Reading of the Names

Honor. Memory. Legacy.

This Veterans Day (November 11, 2025), the International African American Museum’s Center for Family History is honored to join voices from across the nation for the National Reading of the Names — part of the Grand Reopening of the African American Civil War Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C (@afroamcivilwar).

Thousands of United States Colored Troops (USCT) names will be spoken aloud to commemorate the Black soldiers and sailors who fought for freedom, equality, and the promise of America. Each name is a story of courage, family, and sacrifice.

Join us online as we honor their lives and reclaim the space they deserve in our shared history. Hearing these names isn’t just remembrance. It’s a reminder of the generations who helped build this nation and defended its ideals.

Don’t miss this powerful national moment. Tune in, listen, and help keep their legacy alive.
