7787: Dancing With The Stars.
Working the weekend with a MultiCultClassics Monologue…
• A Holocaust survivor and his family sparked controversy with a video showing them dancing in Auschwitz to Gloria Gaynor tune “I Will Survive.” Critics are calling the work tasteless, outrageous and worse. Actually, it’s just another example of White people pathetically trying to boogie to Black music.
• Wesley Snipes will serve time in prison for failing to file his taxes, as a federal appeals panel upheld the 3-year sentence. The actor had sought to overturn the original ruling after a key witness was also convicted of fraud. It’s unlikely Snipes is now dancing to “I Will Survive.”
• David Prowse, the actor who portrayed Darth Vader, has been banned from appearing at official Star Wars events and conventions. George Lucas made the declaration, apparently resulting from years of feuding between the actor and series creator. Guess Lucas’ power trumps the dark side of the Force.
• Mickey D’s cancelled plans to offer free smoothie samples, fearing the demand would exceed supplies. The joint that brags, “billions served,” can’t handle a smoothie promotion?
