Advertising Age reported on the forthcoming book, Mad Women, by Jane Maas. The work spotlights the Old White Gals of Madison Avenue from the 1960s and beyond. Why are White adpeople so willing to profit by piggybacking off a TV show that glorifies and glamorizes the racism, sexism and historical ugliness of the industry? Like AMC series Mad Men, Maas’ book features a predominately Caucasian cast. An excerpt from the Ad Age piece reads:
Voices in the book, which is published by Thomas Dunne Books, an imprint of St. Martin's Press, include Mary Wells Lawrence, founder of Wells Rich Greene; Shelly Lazarus of Ogilvy and former McCann creative Laurel Cutler, as well as the newer generation of adwomen.
Gee, can’t wait to see the diversity presented by the “newer generation” of female executives.
When is an author going to write a book on the Black women of the storied time period? Oh, wait a minute. Someone already did.
