8052: Mad Men Mention.


In the latest episode of AMC series Mad Men, Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce executed a bloodbath, shedding a large number of staffers—including the unqualified copywriter hired earlier in the season. No minorities were terminated, but only because the place doesn’t employ any people of color. If the agency stages a revival, it would be a perfect opportunity to diversify the workforce. However, such a move would completely fly in the face of creator Matthew Weiner’s obsession with historical accuracy and authenticity. After all, it will be nearly 50 years before the advertising industry is “finally admitting it has serious problems with diversity…”
