15306: Joe Anthony On Prime Redlining And White Lies.

Hero Collective Founder and CEO Joe Anthony launched the latest militant maneuver—a Medium perspective—in his legal battle with DDB Chicago over the U.S. Army account. Anthony presents a term for the deceptive ways that White advertising agencies “partner” with minority-owned firms, especially on government contracts: Prime Redlining.

The accusation is defined as follows:

Prime Redlining is when the prime applicant or beneficiary of a government contract teams up with a minority firm to apply for or secure a government contract; and after winning the government contract, the prime redlines the minority firm out of the contract by denying or extremely limiting the minority firm from the financial benefit originally established in their teaming agreement or dictated by government compliance requirements.

Anthony essentially calls out White advertising agencies and holding companies as criminals. Plus, he suggests creating and implementing policies that would ensure fairness, accountability and transparency to ultimately benefit all parties.

It’s interesting to note that the U.S. Army competition featured official complaints of wrongdoing from the participating White shops—as well as alleged hanky-panky from the incumbent and client. There’s plenty of questionable—and possibly illegal—behavior all around.

Which inspires a new term: crimes + crumbs.
