Reviewing the Publicis Groupe-Sapient deal inspired another obvious observation: Digital Trumps Diversity. Think about it. Publicis Groupe CEO Maurice Lévy boasted his company would spend $4 billion over the next five years acquiring digital agencies—and he nearly reached that goal in the first year with the $3.7 billion Sapient purchase. Compare that to the amount of money being invested by the French holding company for diversity—presuming any money is earmarked for fostering inclusiveness. Don’t ever let megalomaniacs like Lévy insist that “human capital” is the most important thing in his empire enterprise.
