12989: Love Has A Label: Bullshit.

This campaign sponsored by the Ad Council is not new, but the banner’s appearance today inspired a MultiCultClassics response. After all, it’s wildly hypocritical for the Ad Council to advocate rethinking our biases with copy that includes, “Before anything else, we are all human. It’s time to embrace diversity. Let’s put aside labels in the name of love.” The facts and figures continue to show the advertising industry is doing anything but embracing diversity.

This is hypocrisy at its finest. Take a close look at the projects AdCouncil puts out and a theme emerges.

The most expensive and award winning work with the deepest budgets is always created/produced/edited by white teams.

The cheapest, crappiest, least developed PSAs are given to ethnic teams.

There's an unwritten law that whatever the most high budget, high impact campaign for the year is, has to be handled entirely by white people. Maybe a few white women mixed in there, but otherwise it's business as usual as the AdCouncil SAYS they're all about diversity and inclusion, but is just same ol' ad industry discrimination beneath the surface.

AdCouncil is a huge scam.

They have deep pockets and endless resources or their white ad agency partners, then lean on ethnic ad agencies (the few that still exist) to pony up pro bono services.

I can’t throw a stick without hitting black and Latin friends who’ve been asked to chip in on AdCouncil PSAs for free, self included, “for the good of the community”, while white colleagues get big budget toy boxes to play in.

If you’re a POC it’s a rite of passage in advertising to get to work on an Ad Council PSA for free, no budget, and then learn, later, that your white counterparts at another agency got a full budget and all the bells and whistles.

I have to say that I hate this ad so much. Using the skeletons is appropriate as gay couples likely wont have children and will become extinct. Being gay now is suddendly supposed to be OK. But it has become entirely too OK. I don't choose this lifestyle for myself but I dont care that much if a small percentage of people do. I just don't want it in my face all the time.

I don't think it is good for society. Historically, every time a society has developed an alternative morality, it has failed. Putting the children in there is just wierd so they had to add the "my sister" bit. This is just gratuitous to get everyone to agree with the last "love" and so they will agree with the interacial and lesbian love. It's such an obvious psy op. When has their ever been an issue with loving your sister anyway?

Completely agree that all the diversity and inclusion bullshit is way over the top. Every one is created equal, but not everyone chooses to apply their equality. Some think that they need the force of govt. to lift them to a protected class that does not exist.
