MultiCultClassics is now reviewing AMC series The Pitch without bothering to watch another episode.
This week, the network changed its Monday timeslot to air The Pitch directly after Mad Men. The desperate ploy to lure the Mad Men faithful will probably blow up in AMC’s face. After all, the things that make Mad Men popular—the beautiful actors, bizarre writing, 60’s art direction, stylish wardrobes, etc.—are nowhere to be seen on The Pitch. The move is like following American Idol with a series on local karaoke clubs.
Additionally, real adpeople know the fastest way to kill a lousy product is to promote it with a strong campaign, as the public will more quickly realize the product sucks. Ironically, the series that inspired The Pitch may ultimately accelerate its demise.
