Adweek interviewed Leo Burnett CCO Susan Credle at Cannes. The adwoman made a few curious comments worth criticizing. First, she gushed about meeting a telecom executive from Hong Kong who inspired her to think about “What we’ll do with Sprint when we get back to the States.” Um, didn’t Digitas win the AOR role on Sprint? Guess it’s now official who’s really running Team Sprint. Maybe the Cannes cultural encounter will lead to a commercial featuring a stereotypical boss with a heavy Chinese accent—“Ling! Ling! Herro! This is Splint!” Credle also displayed cluelessness about mobile communications, which clearly shows she’s the perfect person to oversee a brand like Sprint…? Finally, the CCO marveled at the growing interest in below-the-line disciplines. Yo, somebody tell the woman that the Chicago headquarters of Leo Burnett is actually billing less than sister enterprise Arc Worldwide.
