Adweek reported WPP CEO Mark Read spoke about the 1.8% decline in revenue for Q3, as well as a plan to simplify GroupM. Maybe the revenue drop—along with potential employment instability at GroupM—prompted certain Chinese executives to resort to desperate and drastic measures…?

I wonder if they'll now finally release the overdue payments to their vendors. They and their holding company colleagues like to hold payments until they are well past overdue, and only pay them (and begrudgingly) just after their quarterly results are announced.
It inflates (what looks like) their revenue, and screws over every vendor unfortunate enough to think they'll stick to the payment terms of the contracts they signed.
