First Day of the Month MultiCultClassics Monologue…

• A civil liberties group is suing AT&T for the telecom’s alleged involvement with the National Security Agency. The group charges that AT&T is helping to spy on U.S. citizens’ phone calls and more without warrants. Sure puts a whole different spin on the new corporate tagline — Your world. Delivered.

• The University of Illinois appealed the NCAA ruling that would prohibit the school from hosting postseason sports tournaments because of its Chief Illiniwek mascot. Hey, given the popularity of Brokeback Mountain, maybe the university should replace the Native American character with a gay cowboy. Just a thought.

• The Harlem Boys Choir was instructed to vacate their rent-free school home, despite a lawsuit filed on Monday to halt the eviction. A rally and news conference was scheduled to take place on Tuesday. No word if Chief Illiniwek will make an appearance.
