DC Spinoff Vixen Coming to CW Seed
By Danielle Ryan
The CW revealed Sunday that they will be adding a little diversity to their DC-heavy lineup with an animated Flash and Arrow spinoff, Vixen.
Vixen is a female superhero with African roots who uses ties to a Tantu Totem to wield her powers. The animated format will allow creators to show off all kinds of magic tricks without requiring a massive budget. Because Arrow focuses heavily on vigilante justice, and Flash focuses on science, the focus on magic will be something new for writers and viewers alike.
The series will be a six-part origin story set in Detroit, but will be set in the same continuity as the two live-action shows. Plotlines from the other two shows will be touched upon in the series, and creator Marc Guggenheim promises closure for one very important fan question.
“There’s actually a question I’ve been getting on Twitter a lot, ‘Is Oliver going to find out that Felicity kissed Barry?’ That’s actually going to happen in the Vixen cartoon. Part of the fun is that close cohesion,” he said in an interview with CBR News.
Vixen will air on CW Seed, the network’s digital-only streaming service.
