15408: Singing Breasts From The Dickheads At DAVID…

DAVID in Argentina is responsible for this moronic message purporting to promote breast cancer awareness. Sorry, but it makes Summers Eve’s Talking Vaginas sound like brilliant oratory. No surprise that the creative team taking credit is comprised entirely of men—who deserve nipple clamp torture.

13584: Vapid Vagina Varsity.

Vagina Varsity launched to hawk Libresse panty liners via BBDO in South Africa. Gee, did the idiots behind this bush-league bullshit draw inspiration from the infamous “Hail to the V” debacle for Summer’s Eve? It appears that the stars of the campaign are two Black women, while the creatives snatching credit for the concept appear to be White women. The agency will undoubtedly insist they deserve a Glass Lion for thinking outside the box.

13155: You Go, Aunt Flo.

Kotex introduced a new character—Aunt Flo—who appears to be a cross between Aunt Jemima and the Talking Vagina from Summer’s Eve. Whoever made the decision to cast Aunt Flo as a full-figured Black woman should be fired. Period.

13072: Richards/Lerma Sucks.

This stuff looks like sophomoric scam advertising from portfolio school students. But it’s an actual campaign conceived and created by Richards/Lerma in Dallas, those wonderful folks who gave you talking vaginas for Summer’s Eve. Stay classy, guys.

11487: Misogynists Meet Feminists.

Adweek reported Elle U.K. asked three advertising agencies—Brave, Mother and Wieden + Kennedy—to rebrand feminism. Um, asking ad shops to rebrand feminism is like assigning the heads of Barilla and Chick-fil-A to rebrand LGBT. Or charging the KKK with rebranding diversity. Or letting The Richards Group rebrand Summer’s Eve. Why, it’s a wonder no one thought to call in Neil French.

11478: MetroPCS Is Culturally Shirtless.

This Latino MetroPCS commercial ditches Chad and Ranjit for a friendlier fellow—yet the results are arguably as offensive. The concept seems to communicate that customers may lose their shirts with other carriers. Does losing one’s shirt really translate across cultures? Regardless, it’s a tad sexist for the men to lose their shirts while the women are stripped down to their lingerie. An old nun, however, only exposes her dowdy bra. The entire mess is the work of Richards/Lerma, those wonderful folks who gave you talking vaginas. These hacks bring tastelessness to new heights.

11455: Advertising Week Peek 4.

Given that Advertising Week 2013 takes place during Hispanic Heritage Month, perhaps there should be a special acknowledgement to commemorate the occasion. Why, just think of the many great advertising icons that saluted Latino culture over the years.

The Frito Bandito illegally crossed the border long before it became a political issue—all for a handful of those irresistible corn chips.

The Taco Bell Chihuahua brought authenticity to the fast food chain, leading the way for later tortilla trailblazers such as Chef Lorena Garcia.

And the Talking Latina Vagina for Summer’s Eve shattered stereotypes and opened doors for cartoon coochies everywhere.

Of course, celebratory Advertising Week parties will extend invitations to Salma Hayek and Sofia Vergara.

10944: Happy Vajayjay Day.

Will Summer’s Eve and The Richards Group please end this pathetic campaign already? Don’t forget to keep your vajayjay minty fresh on Valentine’s Day, ladies!

10898: Kotex Goes Multicootchieral.

Kotex is the latest feminine hygiene brand to believe it’s being breakthrough by making gratuitous use of the word “vagina.” The diverse casting is, well, pussy galore. But the last advertiser to go here regretted it—and Kotex should too. Sorry, the creative people behind this campaign are douche bags.

10357: Ten Things Latinos Need To Know.

At The Big Tent, Fernando Rodriguez typed a piece titled, “Six Things Advertisers Need To Know About the Growing Hispanic Market.” It’s a typical perspective on the value of pursuing the Latino market. Yet the article’s title—as well as recent revelations—inspired MultiCultClassics to create the following:

Ten Things the Growing Hispanic Market Needs To Know About Advertisers.

1. The overwhelming majority of advertisers do not support multicultural marketing.

2. The advertisers that do support multicultural marketing do a lousy job of it.

3. Advertisers let White advertising agencies—with a history of not hiring minorities—produce Latino-targeted campaigns.

4. Advertisers also let White advertising agencies invent Latino advertising agencies to steal work typically earmarked for real Latino advertising agencies.

5. Advertisers lazily recycle White advertising with Spanish-speaking voiceovers to target Latinos.

6. Advertisers lazily recycle French advertising to target Latinos.

7. Advertisers clumsily hijack Latino culture to create fake authenticity.

8. Advertisers force Latino advertising agencies to depict soccer and telenovelas, while White advertising agencies get to hire Sofia Vergara.

9. Advertisers think Latinas have talking vaginas.

10. Advertisers treat Latino advertising agencies like undocumented laborers.

10317: Hail To The V Still Smells Bad.

After the disastrous launch of the Hail To The V campaign from Summer’s Eve and The Richards Group—featuring epic adventure imagery and talking vajayjays—the morons responsible for the mess have returned to the contrived crap that has historically defined the brand. This new commercial feels very 20th century. Plus, the gag with a woman sneakily swiping a vaginal wipe is pathetic. The awful tagline remains, and the Caucasian talking vajayay can still be viewed at the website. Somebody needs to have a face-to-vagina talk with Summer’s Eve Director of U.S. Marketing Angela Bryant and tell her to stop the madness already.
