Essay 463

A Never-ending MultiCultClassics Monologue…

• Workers at Michael Jackson’s Neverland Ranch were barred from entering the premises because of insurance policy issues. Coverage for nearly 70 employees lapsed in January, leading to the shutdown. The ranch’s animal inhabitants — elephants, giraffes, snakes, orangutans, tigers and a crocodile — have probably scheduled a meeting with the Aflac duck.

• Approval ratings for President Bush have entered Neverland status. Nearly 70 percent of people believe the country is heading in the wrong direction. The biggest losses of support came from White males. But only because Dubya’s numbers among Blacks and minorities couldn’t possibly get any worse.

• Air Force recruiters in New Mexico are in court for allegedly instructing their ranks to “to use Jesus Christ as a recruiting tool.” Recruiters were apparently told “to accept Jesus Christ in order to perform their job duties” and “to use faith in Jesus Christ while recruiting.” Guess the recruiting theme music will change from “Highway to the Danger Zone” to “Highway to Heaven.”
