President Barack Obama is the new Big Idea for any advertising campaign. But wasn’t President George W. Bush the Education President?

My guess was that George Bush I briefly wanted to be called the education president because he wanted to win the Iowa caucuses. Obama, too, owes his Presidency (he said) to winning Iowa. For that he owes the teachers' union bigtime. Bush, however, lost Iowa to Bob Dole and gradually ceased to be the education President. Remarkably that anyone remembers the short period that Bush wanted that sobriquet.
