8438: Buying Into Economic Recovery.
Spending too much time with a MultiCultClassics Monologue…
• Consumer spending rose 0.7 percent in December, the sixth straight monthly increase. The economic boost, however, will probably be attributed to the limited-time return of McRib® sandwiches.
• General Motors reported a 23 percent sales increase in January, selling 178,896 cars and trucks. The automaker probably could have surpassed 30 percent by offering free McRib® sandwiches with every test drive.
• Exxon Mobil reported 4Q 2010 net income grew 53 percent, marking its most profitable quarter since 3Q 2008. Wow, were they selling McRib® sandwiches at Exxon Mobil mini marts?
