Coke continues its Pay It Forward scholarship promotion—although it seems odd to require product purchase to gain eligibility. Coke Adds Restrictions®.

Oh, that's just a distraction smokescreen! Buying a whole bunch of Coke just gets you an educational backpack.

To get the scholarship, "No purchase necessary. A purchase or payment of any kind will not increase your chances of winning."

Of course, you'd have to read the small details to get that. But if you read the small details you'd also see that Coke is specifically targeting neighborhoods where the African-American population is 40%, 50$, 60%, 70%.

If you're optimistic you'll think gee whiz, how great is it that Coke is helping promising kids who are smart enough to figure out you don't have to buy packs of Coke to get a scholarship! If you're jaded, you'll think it's mighty interesting that they zeroed in on getting more sugary drinks into some neighborhoods and not others.
