95% Spam in a MultiCultClassics Monologue…

• A report by email security specialist Barracuda Networks shows spam accounts for up to 95 percent of all received emails. A Barracuda Networks official said, “Today only one in 20 emails hitting a server is a welcome one.” Unless you’re suffering from erectile dysfunction or want to enlarge your penis.

• Federal authorities are investigating the financial records of Rev. Al Sharpton, apparently probing his 2004 presidential campaign. Associates received subpoenas to appear and testify on December 26. Which means they have only 13 more shopping days until the grand jury hearing.

• A Mexican brewery introduced a new beer named after an unofficial drug saint. Jesus Malverde is viewed as a Robin Hood-like figure who stole from the rich to support the poor. Fans eventually adopted him as the patron saint of drug traffickers and built a chapel to honor him, although the Roman Catholic Church doesn’t recognize the man. “We were looking for a character from Mexican folklore, a graphic representation of local culture,” said a brewery official. “Looking at all the possibilities, we found that Malverde was recognized the most in this section of the country.” Should make for an interesting advertising campaign.
